The Main Street Cotton Shop News - August 2004

Where has the summer gone?  It seems like we should just start planning all those great summer getaways and instead the summer rec programs are coming to a close, football practice starts in two weeks and our Halloween and Christmas fabrics have arrived and are selling.  We are in the final months of preparing for our 11th Annual Quilt Harvest Retreat.  I have included a few pictures of Lynette’s home tour from last year.  Classes are filling, but if you are interested, give us a call and we can tell you what is available.  For a complete list of events and classes, you can download the brochure from our website.  The Fall Favorites Top Shop Tour is scheduled for October 6, 7and 8, 2004 and still has seats available.  This is a spectacular time of the year to not only see 9 “APQ Sampler” Top Shops, but also to see the Minnesota and Wisconsin countryside during the peak fall color season.  Call for a brochure and information.

Our newest club is the Hometown Christmas Club.  The project is shipped quarterly with fabric for three sections of the quilt and a book.  During the other months, we have a small project available to purchase with the directions to complete the project in the Hometown volume you received that quarter.  When you sign up for the club, you will receive automatic shipments quarterly (additional projects need to be ordered separately).  In June of 2005, you will be shipped the completer kit.  If you choose to order it online, you may do that instead.  The finished Hometown Christmas quilt measures 96 x 108 and looks great on a bed anytime of the year.  The Hometown Christmas fabrics are also available by the yard.  Start your Hometown Christmas with all the trimmings today!

The new Cider Hill book has arrived and coordinates with the Cider Hill flannels.  The flannel is almost velvet-like.  One of our Cider Hill favorites is the Ladder Back quilt.  This is our featured quilt of the month, regularly  $97.95, during August you can purchase it for 20% off the regular price... only $78.36.  You do need the Cider Hill book to complete the project.  Now is the time to get started on a flannel quilt so that, in five months from now, you can snuggle up with it.  Another flannel project that I love is the Blueberry Patch quilt from the Beginners Luck book.  Our picture shows it in the Holiday Homecoming flannels.  A fast, fun quilt to make.

With fall just around the corner, take a look at Cranberry Harvest fabrics and Cranberry Sparkle quilt.  We expect to receive the Cranberry Harvest book sometime in August and will put it online as soon as it becomes available.

One of our newest books is the Oh Sew Cozy.  This book showcases some of Lynette Jensen’s all-time favorite flannel quilts. This book is a 128-page, soft cover book for only $22.95.

August is a time of the year when the county fair, traveling circus and summertime entertainment roll into the small towns across America.  Our Under the Big Top and All that Jazz collections of fabric are reminiscent of those days. These fun fabrics make great pillowcases, vintage-looking quilts and fabric you need to add to your stash for a later date.  During the month of August, both collections are on sale for 30% off.  That is a $3 savings per yard.  Order today, supply is limited.  Don’t forget to check out our Cotton Shop clearance items.  New items are added weekly.

The August project of the month is now available as well as the 3rd quarter club fabrics. This has been a great year for the club projects, our members have really enjoyed receiving their package each month. If you still need any of the previous club projects, look under Clubs to order them.  Remember that at the end of the year, you will have enough extra basket blocks to make the Basket Case Quilt.
With summer coming to an end, there is still time to pack a picnic lunch, throw out your favorite quilt and take a little time for yourself and family. Have a great August!
