The Main Street Cotton Shop News - August 2003

August has arrived in Minnesota.  The days are still warm, but the evenings are beginning to cool down.  The flowers are glorious, the crops in the field are producing bumper crops and everybody here is anxiously preparing for the Main Street Cotton Shop Quilt Harvest Retreat.  Our 10th Annual Quilt Harvest Retreat is now only a month away and we are busy making kits and getting ready for what looks like the "best retreat ever"!  If you can fit it into your schedule, we would love to have you join us.   Give us a call to register.  The Top Shop Tour is only two months away with a few seats left.  If you would like information on that, let us know.
Many of you have already started the Lazy Crazy quilt that Lynette designed for this year's Block of the Month.  It is a fun crazy quilt look, with its own Lazy Crazy line of fabrics, that gives it a distinct Thimbleberries look.  In order for you to use the patterns again, we are showing you the exact same quilt using the Maple Valley fabric collection.  Take a look at what an incredible quilt this turned out to be.  We have put this together as the Maple Valley Crazy Quilt.  It can be ordered with the patterns or for those that already have them, you can order without.
Autumn Glow fabrics are in just in time for making harvest gathering tablecloths and quilts.  There's still time to sign up for our Thimbleberries Club and receive the Autumn Glow kits.  Our monthly quilt special for August on-line shopping features the Sugar House book, regularly $19, now only $14.  The featured quilt this month on-line is Garden 9 Patch from the Sugar House book, done in the new Maple Valley fabrics.  The kit is regularly $99.95, now only $74.95.  If you are looking for a fun and fast wall hanging to make this fall, check out the Pumpkins for Sale in the Thimbleberries Housewarming book.  It will give your home a new fall look with little effort.
Snowshoe Lodge fabrics in flannel are now on-line for you to take a look at.  Along with that, we have a quilt from Snowshadows book called Winter Wonderland at Snowshoe Lodge.  This quilt would make a great Christmas gift.  Even though the temperature is approaching 90 degrees this weekend, it's never too soon to think of the holiday ahead.  The Snow Country book is full of great ideas; Mantel Socks and Snow Country Pillow are two quick and easy projects to get started on.
Last month at our Hutchinson location, my Thimbleberries Club Director, Karen Olson and my Store Manager, Connie Linmeyer, had an "Airing of the Quilts" at Karen's home in the country.  Karen and her husband, Butch, have built an incredible little log home as a "get away" on their farm.  Our Thimbleberries Club members and Lynette were invited to spend the afternoon quilting, visiting, sipping on lemonade and enjoying Karen's homemade cornbread, fresh from the cook stove, with a little honey butter on top.  I thought you might enjoy seeing our "Airing of the Quilts".
