The Main Street Cotton Shop News - February 2004

A winter weather advisory for -40 degrees wind chill, actual air temperature of -25 degrees, blowing snow and school closings due to extreme cold. That's Minnesota this week and a near perfect forecast for a quilter. With the Internet so accessible, it is so easy to stay at home, shop in your robe with a hot cup of coffee in hand and have your fabric and kits delivered right to your door.
	We had 18" of fresh snow this weekend at the cabin and it gave my daughter Tracy and I a perfect time to look through some of my quilting books. Tracy is relatively new to quilting, so we picked a fun, not too difficult pattern for her from the new book called Mostly Easy. The quilt she chose is Among Friends, a great quilt for a beginner or a quick sew for the more advanced quilter.

Valentine's Day will be here in just two short weeks. There is still time to make a fast Valentine table runner. Every week, I have customers coming into the shop asking for finished quilts for sale. Several of my Hutchinson staff have formed a company called "Say It With Quilts" so you can purchase ready-made quilts.
