The Main Street Cotton Shop News - July 2003

Summer is a time to spend a long, lazy afternoon with friends, escape to the garden room for a refreshing ice tea or walk through the flower garden still fresh with morning dew.  With the 4th of July behind us, summer seems to be going by way too fast.  The summer list of "to dos" keeps growing instead of getting smaller and the summer is half gone.  The good news is, I still have the other half of the summer to complete a few of the projects.
Every year I try to add a new perennial to my garden, which I did, along with a few others.  The Minnesota rains and sunshine have been perfect for the garden to flourish this year.  The Hydrangeas, Purple Coneflowers and Veronica are in full bloom. Also on my list is to finish the Fall Colors Table Runner that I started last winter so that I can enjoy it on my table this fall.

In May, our daughter was married and I mentioned the patchwork quilts that Tracy and Bryan made for their attendants.  Both of our sons and our oldest son's wife were in the wedding party.

This past weekend, the kids all joined us at the lake for a great 4th of July holiday (with perfect weather).  They arrived with their quilts in-hand.  They seem to go with them everywhere and I captured this picture of our family with their quilts.

Since the last newsletter, the Maple Valley Quilts book that coordinates with the Maple Valley fabrics has arrived and is now in the shop.  Two of my favorites from this book are the Oak Vine Throw and the Fall Sampler.  Through the month of July, we are offering these two kits at a super price if purchased on-line.  The Oak Vine Throw is regularly $69.95, now on sale for $59.95; and the Fall Sampler is regularly $19.95, now $15.95.  Both kits need the Maple Valley book to complete the projects and through the month of July, you can purchase it on-line for $15.00, regularly $19.00

July started the 3rd Quarter of our Thimbleberries Project of the Month Club.  The Autumn Glow project is great and there is still time to sign up.
To make room for the new fall fabrics that are arriving daily, we have put together some super summer buys.  Our Fabulous Flannel Collection (10 yard, 1 yard each) is a collection of great coordinating flannels, regularly $89.90, now only $39.95. The 10-piece Cotton Classic, regularly priced at $87.90, is now only $34.95.  The collections are all top quality fabrics that are color coordinated.
Our newest group of fabrics to arrive from Moda is the Snowshoe Lodge collection.  We have the group pictured in flannel and cotton with a great project book called Snowshadows.  Wool fabrics have really taken off here at the Main Street Cotton Shop and we have put together a few wool kits that make great take-along projects.  The Dear Santa, Loves Me... Loves Me Not and Holly Wreath are all kits that will get you started.
Our annual Quilt Harvest Retreat is in its 10th year.  We have a terrific list of classes and events planned for this year's retreat and invite you to join us.  Classes are filling up quickly, but there is still room for you.  The Retreat brochure can be downloaded from our website.  Call right away to reserve your place.
On October 8, 9 and 10, the Main Street Cotton Shop in Redwood Falls is participating in a Fall Favorites Top Shop Tour.  The tour consists of 9 shops in Minnesota and Wisconsin that have been featured in the American Patchwork and Quilting "Sampler" magazine.  It's going to be an incredible 3-day tour and we have only 18 seats left.  If you are interested in joining us, call for a brochure with all the details.
With all the new products and events coming up, it is just too much to include in this newsletter.  If you have any questions or are looking for something in particular, please give us a call at 800-624-4001 or email us at quilters@mainstreetcottonshop.com and we will do all we can to provide you with the information or product.
