The Main Street Cotton Shop News - July, 2006

July brings us to the middle of summertime.  A time for casual and relaxed days, a time for reliving memories of 4th of July parades, eating watermelon on the curb, that first ear of corn-on-the-cob and wonderful family picnics.  As we go into this glorious part of summer with warm days full of sunshine, take time to have a backyard picnic, invite the neighbors, light up the grill and have an old fashioned 4th of July party.  Campfire Parade Day Throw can fit right into your picnic plans.  The signature print comes in flannel or cotton and will make a perfect covering for the table.  Add a few hydrangeas and anything else that is blooming in the garden (including one of our unique hand made garden houses), and you have an instant table centerpiece.  To help you celebrate in July, we have put our Parade Day fabrics on sale, only $4.99 for the cotton and $5.99 for all flannels.  Hurry, supply is limited.

So many new fabrics have arrived in the last few weeks, we are bursting at the seams.  The new Autumn Garden collection by Thimbleberries is beautiful!  The line has a slightly sophisticated look for the home.  A wonderful signature floral, full of all the wonderful flowers you would find in Lynette's garden, come in three color ways.  The floral sets the background in the Garden Collection pattern with a natural feeling of fall, while the rest of the line with it's patterns, texture and colors compliment it so wonderfully.

Boo Hollow is a great looking small collection for fun projects to make and have on hand for fall entertaining.  The Boo Mountain pattern works nicely as a tablecloth, wall hanging or throw.  The vintage pumpkin face on the signature print  will make great napkins, treat bags or a fun pillowcase as a special surprise for a son, daughter or grandchild.

With fall fast approaching, we have a great special for you to get started on.  Harvest Patches is our fall take on the Christmas Patches tablecloth.  The kit has over 25 different fabrics that all coordinate, plus borders and binding to make this fabulous quilt.  The kit also includes the Holiday Collection book.  This is one of my favorite tablecloths that I can't wait to decorate with.  This is a $119.95 value for only $84.95.  Time to get started on some of your fall projects.

Are you ready for another small quilt project?  Thimbleberries just came out with a new Jiffy quilt, Dot-to-Dot.  Make this in any number of fabric collections, Tuxedo, Vintage Stitches or Sedona Sky ... all 3 will have a completely different look.

At spring market, we picked up a few new patterns that we think are great.  Two of my favorites are the Britches & Bloomers and Cute as a Button Baby Jacket  patterns. Having a granddaughter, I find myself looking at fabrics and patterns that I didn't know existed before, it's so much fun.  This week my focus is to make a pair of bloomers and a little matching jacket out of April Cornell's Poetry Collection.  Emma (my granddaughter) is a little young for this next pattern, but not for me or you.  The Metropolitan purse is so fun, everyone needs a collection of purses and this is the one to make first.  I know you will end up making more ... one for each outfit.

If you are ready to get started on Christmas projects, we have the perfect kit, Woodland Chapel.   Sew this in an evening or a weekend, tuck it away and when the holidays arrive you will be more than ready.

Our 13th annual Quilt Harvest Retreat registration opened June 1st.  We have received registrations from all over the country and cannot wait to meet you!  It's so much fun each year to see those that have been coming all 13 years and renew old friendships.  One thing about quilters, it creates a bond that lasts a lifetime.  Think about joining us this year, give us a call and register today, we have limited space left.
