The Main Street Cotton Shop News - June, 2006

Summer is the season for long afternoons on the porch with a gentle summer breeze blowing, flip-flops instead of shoes and family get-togethers.  Our annual Mothers and Daughters tea grew this year with a couple of sisters, sisters-in-law, daughters and nieces getting together to celebrate the upcoming wedding of my niece, Kiara. It was a perfect day to embrace the beginning of summer. A day for bringing the quilts outside, tasting that first glass of iced tea and enjoying that first get together at the lake.  A day for bringing the quilts outside, reading a book and just enjoying the day.

Two weeks ago, we had our spring quilt market.  It was filled with fun, new fabrics, books, patterns and more.  Some of the patterns and books were readily available and we have already received them in the shop!  The new Christmas ideas are wonderful and allow us plenty of time to get them finished.  Thimbleberries new patterns are not only great, but easy and fast.  Star Flower, Star Swirl Tree skirt, Snow Buddy and Wish Upon A Star are four individual patterns, all using the December Day collection Season's Bright Runner, Deck the Halls , Comfort and Joy, Holly Lane, Gather 'Round Tablecloth and Poinsettia are available two different ways - individual pattern or in the Christmas Countdown book.  The kits are from the December Days fabric collection, with the exception of the Comfort and Joy which is done in the Flannel Favorites group.

There are so many wonderful projects here you won't want to miss out.  To make it easy for you, we have created the Christmas Countdown Club.  Starting in July, we automatically ship one project for six months in a row, right to your door.  You will need to purchase the Christmas Countdown book ahead of time.  If you sign up before July 1st, you qualify for a bonus each month. By the end of the six months, you not only have all the projects, but you have the bonus Evergreen Inn Log Cabin wall hanging and Evergreen Inn book, a $69.95 value.

Tuxedo is also new from Thimbleberries.  We never have enough good black or cream fabric - Tuxedo definitely will fill that void.  Using rich, true black prints and creamy tone on tone prints, the fabric is available by collection or cut yardage.

The Poetry collection and Log Cabin quilt that we introduced last month was so well received, we thought you might enjoy this new quilt using this group.  At market, Terry Atkinson debuted her new Take Two booklet with the Gemstones quilt.  Using the Poetry fabrics, you take two, add a few more for variety and you are ready to sew a fun and easy fat quarter quilt.  Terry also did a great pattern called All About Me.  With all the wonderful novelty prints, you can customize this quilt just like it says - All About Me - graduation, wedding,  birthday, the list goes on.

Take 5 is another fast pieced quilt.  We used a touch of corduroy and a splash of chenille to add interest, layer the fabrics for fast cutting, and five hours later, you're done.

We have some great specials for you during the month of June.  The Calendar Table Topper book is available at a 25% off savings.  Many of you know how great this book is, filled with twelve wonderful projects.  A great gift book and if you don't already have it in your Thimbleberries library, now is the time to add it.

Pint Size Traditions is another Thimbleberries book that you will want to add to your book collection.  In the book, you will find Alpine Star wall hanging, a 35" x 43" non-seasonal quilt that looks good in any room.  Both the book and the wall quilt kit are 30% off during the month of June.
