The Main Street Cotton Shop News - March, 2005

Welcome Spring with a fresh new look to your home.  I cannot think of a better time to redo a bedroom, lighten up the living room and say goodbye to winter.  With the arrival of spring comes the arrival of fresh new fabric collections with a softer look to the palette.  From home dec fabrics, paints, accessories and quilts, we are seeing a spring full of pastels.  The new Cottagewood from Thimbleberries and Seaside Rose by Moda lend a softer more feminine touch to the quilts.  The Cottagewood book has some wonderful, small quilts to freshen up your home.  Take a look at  the Yo-yo Table Topper, it’s a beautiful runner that will become a classic you will use for many years.  Springtime Quilt will lighten up that bedroom you’ve been waiting to change.  Now is the time.

This year, Easter will be at our doorstep before we know it.  Easter seems to be the benchmark for decorating, spring housecleaning and pulling out the spring quilts.  Hanging the spring quilts on the clothesline, airing them out and then layering them on the bed is one of my favorite rituals of spring.  Nothing smells better than that fresh scent of the outdoors.  I love it when the kids all come home for Easter weekend and notice the new look and even say “Mom, the quilts smell so good.”  This Easter, take a minute to make a fun, inexpensive table favor for your Easter dinner table.  Using the Calendar Table Toppers book, we made the Treat Cups with Cottagewood fabric.  Filled with a little Easter grass and candy, they dress the table for a perfect entertaining touch.

March is the first Calendar Table Topper Club project called Star Table Topper.  Each club participant will receive their project and, as an additional bonus, we will send a FREE gift valued from $9 - $20.  Call 800.624.4001 to sign up.  April’s project, Lily Table Runner, is a small runner that can be done in an evening.  Call today.  There is still time to join and receive the March Topper.

Birthday Blast was a huge success in February.  Everyone that purchased the Sunshine Porch kit was thrilled to see what a beautiful quilt kit it was and at a super price.  The good thing is, there is more to come.  Each month, we will have a kit showcasing a Thimbleberries pattern.  The kit will include the fabric for the top, binding, pattern or book with the pattern and the backing!  March’s Birthday Blast quilt is Party Mix from the My Best book.  For our on-line and mail order customers, it is only $94.95, a value of $169.95, that’s a $75 savings! This can only be purchased the first full week of the month, March 6– 12, at that incredible price.  Mark your calendar and remember to place your order.

To start planning for summer, take a look at the new Melon Slice pattern.  A taste of summer just waiting to be made.  The Picnic fabric collection that was used to make this charming wall hanging will be available next month.

March is National Quilt Month and we are having a quilt event March 13 – 19.  Each day of the week, we will have a special item on sale at a terrific savings.  Check out our website at www.mainstreetcottonshop.com each day to cash in on the savings.  For every order that is placed over $25 during the week of March 13 – 19, we will send you 1 yard of fabric FREE.

More new items in the store this month are the Mostly Table Runners Two book and a couple of great baby quilt kits, Baby Patchwork and Four Patch Baby.  The baby quilts are at a great price and it includes the pattern.  These are the kind of kits you will want to have on hand, they can be whipped up in a night.

Well, it seems the staff at the Main Street Cotton Shop want to make Easter cups for their families, too, so I need to get going, collect my supplies and have a fun evening.
