The Main Street Cotton Shop News - May 2004

In Minnesota, we go from winter to summer.  Sunday was a very warm 92 degrees in Redwood Falls and today it was snowing north of Minneapolis.  We definitely have a theater of seasons here.  Today in Redwood Falls, it feels very spring-like. The buds are bursting forth with new spring growth and my neighbor’s magnolia tree is full of fragrant blossoms. In the store window box, we planted pansies as an invitation to spring, while inside the shop is full of new spring flowers, patterns and fabrics.
Last weekend was our 4th annual Bus Shop Hop in Hutchinson.  What a fun day!  The weather was beautiful, the shop was full of new displays, quilts and gifts and everyone was enjoying themselves.  Lynette shared her design studio with our shop hoppers and spent time visiting with them, as well.  My staff spent weeks getting ready for the event and the displays, food and ambiance were terrific. We are so fortunate to share the building with the Thimbleberries design studio.  All of Lynette’s new projects from the Treats No Tricks fabric collection was on display.  The Treats no Tricks book is full of projects that we have the kits for.  Pumpkin Blossom and Halloween Stars are both great looking wall quilts.  Night Magic and Quick Tricks table runner are small projects for the table that you can finish up in a weekend.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and we have some great Mother’s Day gift ideas.  How about a Mother- Daughter Tea Towel Apron set?  The gift package has two spring tea towels with coordinating fabric for apron strings.  The directions and pattern pieces for making the aprons are included in the gift set.  The aprons measure 20.5” x 28.5” and are only $14.95 for a set of two.  Another quilters gift is our Flower Tower.  Each Flower Tower has 3 yards of fabric topped with spring flowers.  Buy an assortment of Flower Towers to give a quilting friend or mom.

We have our annual Garden Party the first Saturday in May.  Everyone comes dressed with their decorated garden gloves to help celebrate spring at the Main Street Cotton Shop.  Since not everyone is able to come to our celebration, we are going to bring the party to you.

To help celebrate the arrival of spring, we are going to give a 25% discount on Tulip Patch from the Berry Patch book and Starlight Throw from the Sunshine & Shadow book.  Both kits are done in the Berry Patch fabrics and will give a fresh springtime look to any room. The new Wool Creations are in and have been super with the Woollies projects from Thimbleberries. Start your House of Hearts now, frame it and what a beautiful piece of artwork to hang in your home.

Our new Timberlodge collection of fabrics arrived this week and the signature print has been a hit.  The collection is a super soft flannel with a variety of prints. The focus fabric is a fun print that will look great as a signature print in a quilt.  It is one of those pieces that our customers tell us they "just have to have". Don’t wait too long to purchase it, it’s going fast.

Between gardening and quilting, there simply is not enough daylight or time to get everything done.  The great part about being a quilter is that there is always something new and challenging for us to do and you don't need daylight to start or finish.  If you need any help or are looking for a particular fabric or project, give us a call at 800.624.4001 or contact us by email at quilters@mainstreetcottonshop.com
