The Main Street Cotton Shop News - November 2003

Autumn is quickly turning into winter here in Minnesota.  The leaves have fallen, the garden is put to bed, and the smell  of wood burning in the fireplaces as I walk down the street are all signs of November.  As the Christmas catalogs arrive daily, it makes me realize all of the things I need to get going on.  At the Main Street Cotton Shop, we have some great gift items and quick holiday projects to help get you through the season.

There is plenty of time to make some fun, quick and easy projects for your home.  We have available this month at a special price, a limited edition Trim the Tree Stocking and Goose Chase Tree Skirt.  Both of these items are for any level of ability.  If you are trying to find a quick gift for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list, the Hydrangea Pine Throw is perfect.  A cozy throw using the Hydrangea Pine print from Snow Country and a soft supple Thimbleberries flannel for the reverse, all finished with a great looking plaid flannel.  A quick quilt you can finish in an afternoon.  While supplies last, for only $89.95, quilt measures 68" x 84".
Do you need a quick table runner for the holidays?  Basket Block Runner is a one-hour piecing project.  Give the kit or finished runner as a gift.  Either way, you will make a hit.  Don't forget the Pint Size Traditions book, Thimbleberries Collection of Classic Quilts book, Finishing Touches and Beginner's Luck.  All of these books are on the list of "must-haves".
Today, the new Berry Patch fabrics from Thimbleberries arrived.  What a great collection of fabric that offers a fresh new look.  The Triple Berry pattern has also arrived and the kits are readily available.
The new Thimbleberries Club for 2004 has been presented to us and we are so excited about it.  If you are interested in joining our club, take a look at the projects and give us a call.  Our Thimbleberries Club is offered each month at both the Hutchinson and Redwood Falls locations.  If you are unable to attend and would like to participate, call 800.624.4001 or 507.637.5221 for details on joining the club.  Each project has a specific fabric collection designed for it.  At the end of the 12 months, you will have completed 12 small projects as well as a bonus Basket Case Quilt.  You won't want to miss out on next year's club.
Last month, we had our Top Shop Tour.  Over the course of three days, we had 390 women from all over the US and Australia come visit, shop, meet Lynette Jensen, and view our "Harvest Gallery of Quilts".  We set up a small satellite shop for those three days that we filled with quilts ... on the walls, beds, tables and love seat.  It was by all means three great, fun-filled days.  The women were wonderful in so many ways.  For those of you that were on the tour, I want to thank you!  I hope you all had as much fun as we did.

This month, we have a fun event in each store.  November 15th, Christmas Remembered Open House is happening at our Hutchinson location.  The shop will be transformed into a Holiday Wonderland.  Christmas quilts, holiday sweets, gift items galore and the scents and sounds of the season will put you in the holiday mood.  This year, we are having a silent auction of small quilts and wall hangings that have been donated by Lynette Jensen, her Thimbleberries staff, myself and the Main Street Cotton Shop staff.  Proceeds from the auction go to support he Birchwood House, a hospice house located in Hutchinson.  You can view one of the quilts on-line.  If you are interested in contributing, call 320.234.7298 to submit your bid.  All bids will be sealed.  The bidding closes at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 15th.  The highest bidder of each item will be notified.

On Friday, November 21st, we are having our 11th Annual Christmas by Candlelight in Redwood Falls.  A fun weekend of events that starts Friday evening at 6:00 pm.  A quilt show, horse-drawn sleigh rides, chili feed, 100's of luminaries that light the sidewalks downtown, strolling carolers and shops filled with holiday charm all welcome you to the holiday season.  When the Main Street Cotton Shop was selected by APQ magazine as one of North America's Top Shops, I designed the Christmas by Candlelight wall quilt.  To this day, that is one of our most popular kits and is still available.

I have just returned from the fall quilt market in Houston and can hardly wait to get started with the holiday preparations at the stores.  Market is always so exciting.  It offers us so many great new products and ideas that make quilting fun.  Check out our website to see the new items as they arrive daily.  For the holiday season, we will be adding a gift section to our website. We carry many unique gifts that are one-of-a-kind.  Have the holidays be a fun season for you to enjoy by letting us help you with your shopping.  Do you need a suggestion for a friend?  Our staff is ready and waiting to help you out.  Make your holiday a fun and stress-free time by calling the Main Street Cotton Shop or visiting us at www.mainstreetcottonshop.com.
