The Main Street Cotton Shop News - November, 2005

November - the time to get ready for the holidays.  With the hectic pace of today's world, it seems like we are always rushing and here it is the holiday season already.  This year, make the months of November and December enjoyable - a time of coming together and celebrating.  The Main Street Cotton Shop has what you'd like to make the months ahead memorable, from great gifts ideas to quilt kits to a collection of quilt novels by Jennifer Chiaverini.

Plan now for the Thanksgiving feast, whether it's dinner for 2 or 22.  Make a table set to share with family and friends.  Who says quilts are just for the bed?  Pull out your favorite fall quilt and display it on the dining room table.  If you need a quick table covering, the large vine print from Autumn Fare collection is an outstanding print to set your holiday dinnerware on.  Before all the pumpkins are gone, buy a few and save them for Thanksgiving.  The mini pumpkins make great candleholders and a large white pumpkin is perfect for the centerpiece.  Fill it with the last of the fall garden flowers for a beautiful reminder of the fruits of the harvest.

With the colder weather and shorter days, more time is spent indoors.  It gives us more time to snuggle up and get cozy, and there's nothing cozier than a flannel quilt.  For a quick quilt, make a traditional comforter using the Country House flannels.  Add a big chunky binding and you have a quilt overnight.  For a quick pieced quilt, the Casual Cozy from Country House Quilts book makes a great holiday gift quilt.  The Mostly Cozy book has a great group of fun and fast quilts to make with flannel.  The Anything Goes in Country House flannels is especially easy and looks good, too.

If you're thinking about gift ideas for the season ahead, take a look at our collection of wool kits.  Everyone enjoys the wool projects!  They're small and easy to take along.  The Cardinal, Frosty Trio and Poinsettia Penny Woollie are just three of our favorites for the holidays.  Make them as a gift or give the kit as a gift - either way they'll love it.

The new Wuthering Heights collection of fabrics is a beautiful group that has a very traditional look to it.  Mostly Traditional book has a number of quilts in it that would work well with this collection.  The Nine Patch Envy would be a particularly nice one that fits the style and design of the fabric.  This line has a home dec appeal with endless possibilities for curtains, dust ruffles and throw pillows.  Let your creativity go and decorate your bedroom with a quick, yet stylish, quilt in Wuthering Heights.
