The Main Street Cotton Shop News - October 2003

The crisp fall breezes bring a familiar shiver as our thoughts turn to harvest bounty celebrations and winter holidays.  The past month has been busy, but a very fun time for all of us at the Main Street Cotton Shop.  We had a super three days of Quilt Harvest Retreat as we celebrated our 10th retreat anniversary.  Last month, I promised you photos from the 3-day event.  I think you will enjoy looking at these.  I have pictures from Lynette's garden and home, the 10th anniversary Show and Tell Party, my wonderful students that actually finished their project in class, and others.  Next year's retreat is already scheduled for September of 2004.  If you are interested in receiving information, let us know and we will put you on the list for information in June.

Three days this week, we have 400 women from all over the United States and Australia coming to our Redwood Falls store as part of the Fall Favorites Top Shop tour.  Our Minnesota fall is spectacular right now and is definitely showing off to these women.  The leaves are at peak and the weather is incredible.  Today, the first 150 women arrived.  What a fun day we have all had.  Lynette Jensen came down to Redwood Falls and signed her two newest books, Pint Size Traditions and Thimbleberries Collection of Classic Quilts.
We had a beautiful Thimbleberries quilt show in addition to the shop tour and the women had a great time.  As they waited for the bus to leave, they sat on the benches and steps and enjoyed the great day as much as the books.  If you would like a signed copy of Lynette's book, let us know when you purchase it and we will have it signed for you.  Both of these books are wonderful and I'm sure you will want to add to your collection.  Many of the Pint Size projects are favorites from the past that she has made into a smaller version.  The Classic book is exactly that, classic favorites from the past 10 years.
The Snow Country and Maple Valley fabrics have been some of the best.  Each collection has a great book ... Snow Country Quilts and Maple Valley Quilts to go with the fabrics.  As the holidays approach, we start to think about gifts and both of these books have some great small projects.  Two of the staff favorites are the Mantel Socks that, if ordered online, is on sale for $19.95, regularly $24.95; and Pumpkin Picking, regularly $34.95, on sale for $27.95.  Both of these kits need the specified book to complete the project.
This month, we are offering a limited edition Thimbleberries project called Old Maids Puzzle.  This quilt is made from the book, Apron Strings, that is no longer available.  The remaining books have been put into the kits for this great looking quilt.  The kit id done in Snow Country fabrics and is outstanding. A very traditional 2-color quilt, my favorite kind.  We are offering this kit to you for only $99.95.  Normally, this kit sells for $139.95.  When the kits are gone, that will be it.
One of our new wool kits is the Acorns and Oak Leaves.  A beautiful hand-dyed wool project that is lovely framed, sitting on a table or hanging on the wall.

This month, we added a few new items to our fabric collections.  Holiday Mixer, Autumn Mixer, Springtime Mixer and Thimbleberries Mixer.  Each Mixer box contains 40 Buck Bundle pieces (each piece is approximately 14" square).  Each Mixer box is a mix of fabrics indicative of the name.  The Thimbleberries Mixer is a combination of all colors, only in Thimbleberries fabrics. Normally, a 40-piece Mixer is $40, but order it online this month for only $29.95.  A perfect gift for that quilter friend.

Tomorrow is another busy day with 150 more women coming to visit the shop, see Lynette and view the quilts.  What a fun three days this is going to be, visiting with all these new quilters.  Next month, I will share the Top Shop Tour with all of you.
